2.26.08--SLAVIK, WESTENDORP NAMED NEW MICHIGAN DAIRY
AMBASSADORS
Two new Michigan dairy ambassadors were chosen to represent
the dairy industry at various events throughout the upcoming year at
the sixth annual Great Lakes Regional Dairy Conference (GLRDC) held
recently in Frankenmuth. The winners of the 2008 Michigan Dairy Ambassador
Scholarship and Leadership Program were announced during the second
annual GLRDC Michigan dairy industry recognition night held Feb. 8.

PEOPLE
Nearly 500 dairy producers, farm managers and industry
professionals attended the 2008 Great Lakes Regional Dairy Conference
(GLRDC), a record-level attendance for the sixth annual event that was
held February 7-9 in Frankenmuth, Michigan.

at Annual Conference
Nationally-recognized author, speaker and researcher on dairy animal
nutrition Dr. Mike Hutjens will be presenting his talk, “Nutrition
101: The Latest on Byproducts, rbSt and Milk Protein,” at the
6th annual annual Great Lakes Regional Dairy Conference
(GLRDC) scheduled for February 7-9 at the Bavarian Inn Lodge and Conference
Center in
Frankenmuth, Mich.

Future Career Path
When Ashley Messing applied for the Michigan Dairy Ambassador Program
last February she got more than she bargained for.
Though she originally planned to use the experience as a way to take
part in activities promoting
the state’s dairy industry, Ashley soon realized that she had identified
the career path she wanted to pursue.

Annual Dairy Conference Dr. Paul Fricke, assistant professor and Extension specialist in dairy
cattle reproduction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
and one of the world’s foremost authorities in dairy cattle reproduction,
will join the list of notable speakers presenting at
the 2008 Great Lakes Regional Dairy Conference (GLRDC)
February 7-9 in Frankenmuth, Mich.
